About Kimmel Athletic Supply

Jack Kimmel founded Kimmel Athletic Supply in June of 1969 when he returned to Spokane from Boise and purchased Bill Hatch Sporting Goods. Jack had been a partner in Idaho Sporting Goods in Boise for over twenty years. Being a Spokane native, he welcomed the opportunity to return to Spokane.

At that time, the Company was known as "Kimmel-Hatch Athletic Supply Co." In 1990, Bill Davis acquired an interest in the Company and the corporate name was officially changed to "Kimmel Athletic Supply Company, Inc."

Today, Bill, Jim Kimmel, (Jack's son), Brian Davis, (Bill's son) and Steve Leifer own more than 97% of the Company's stock. Currently the Company has more than 120 employees working in four states- Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Texas.

Kimmel Athletic has operated a Retail and Team sales division in Yakima since 1997. The company has seven (7) full-time employees in Yakima.

The Company started a Team Sales Division in Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas in 1999 that operates as R. B. Sporting Goods. This division, which does not operate as a retail store, has ten employees.

In November, 2007, the Company opened a Retail and Team Sales store in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho where it has five employees.

In September 2009, the Company entered the Puget Sound market area by hiring five people for that sales territory. In March 2011, the Company expanded its presence in Western Washington when it acquired the inventory assets of Athletic Supply, LLC. The Company continues to operate a retail store in Redmond, and has 11 sales personnel in Western Washington.

The Company also has three Team Salesmen in Oregon, one in John Day covering Central and Eastern Oregon; one in Salem serving customers in Western Oregon, primarily along the I-5 corridor south of Portland, and a third Team Salesman, who serves the Portland metropolitan area.

The Company sells and distributes athletic supplies and equipment to colleges and universities, school districts, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, recreational teams and leagues as well as businesses and the general public through its sales personnel and retail stores.

Today, more than 20% of the company's employees have in excess of ten (10) years of service with the Company and more than 400 years of combined service to the athletic supply industry. We strongly believe that the contributions made by all of our employees, especially our long-term employees, are the reason our Company has enjoyed the strong growth it has achieved in recent years.
